Welcome to FoodBody!

EMILY HAEUSSLER, R.D., L.D.:

As a registered dietitian, I am concerned with nutrition. But I also feel eating is a pleasure to be enjoyed as well as a source of nourishment. When most people think about nutrition and eating, they immediately think about restricting foods: eliminating their favorite foods, labeling the foods they eat “good” and “bad” or “healthy” and “unhealthy” and sitting down to tasteless, bland, dull meals.

That’s not what eating is all about. Eating is fun!

In my private practice, I help individuals and families see food in a new perspective. I help them develop a healthy respect and appreciation for their bodies and nourish themselves with delicious food (with an emphasis on “delicious”). I encourage them to appreciate food as a pleasurable aspect of life and to know it is only one source of joy and pleasure. I help them find ways to enjoy eating free from guilt and fear—to incorporate the foods they really love into their meals—and to eat and be active in a way that allows them to freely participate and fully enjoy life, free from worries about food and weight.
